One of the most mega-biodiverse countries in the world, South Africa also exerts outsized leadership throughout Africa, a continent that is expected to double in population by 2050. Expanding sustainably managed and restored lands in South Africa to preserve ecological integrity could reap tremendous gains throughout a continent beset by both economic and development pressures.
We believe that nature has needs, and that people need nature. That’s why we are fighting for a respectful, just, and wild world enjoyed and protected by everyone on the planet.
South Africa’s biodiversity alone makes it important partner in the Survival Revolution. But it is its leadership potential that makes it essential. Encouraging more ecological sound leadership requires breaking through a national dialogue consumed by other political controversies.
