In October 2020, world leaders gather for the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity in Kunming, China.They will set new spatial targets for the protection of Earth’s biosphere. Currently, these targets are 17% terrestrial and 10% marine. A traditional and contemporary scientific consensus concludes that humans need at least half of Earth to remain wild and intact.
We believe that nature has needs, and that people need nature. That’s why we are fighting for a respectful, just, and wild world enjoyed and protected by everyone on the planet.
For millions of years, wild nature has functioned to produce everything life needs most. Leaving half of Earth's land and seas in its natural state is essential for the continuation of Earth's life support systems. 2020 is the year we can influence world leaders to protect enough nature to save life on Earth.
